World War II ( the Second World War) , was the second military conflict that spreads over the globe. It started in Europe in 1939, when the German forces under the command of Aldof Hitler, invaded Poland and subsequently, the majority of western and Central European countries. The Asian version of the war began earlier on (1937) with the Japanese soldiers who invaded China and most Asian countries who were American and European colonies.

The war split the world into two opposing military powers; the Allies (American, Russians, western Europeans and the rest of the world) and the Axis Powers (Germany, Japan, and Italy). The war claimed the life of over 60 million people, which made it the most deadliest war in human history . Over hundred million military men were mobilized in the war of which Akah sons were among the number. These Akah sons fought for the Allies forces in the war under the umbrella of British battalion in the Middle East, Europe and South East Asia.

The World War II ended by 11am on the 11th day of November 1945. The end of the world war II is referred to as 11-11-11. That is, it ended on the 11th hour of the day, 11th day of the month and 11th month of the year 1945. Few months after the war ended, they discharged the soldiers. As early as March 1946, the discharged soldiers of Akah origin began to return. The last batch returned in May 1946. Umuaka men who returned in uniform in 1946 as discharged soldiers are listed here under according to their village of origin:
