Ugbele-Umuaka is now Ugbele-akah autonomous community. Chief Peter Ukonu is the Eze Akpaka I of the autonomous community. Ugbele-akah has 12 kindreds now known as villages. The villages are: 1 Umuezeala, 2 Umudinji, 3 Umuojukwu, 4 Umudionyeka, 5 Umuiheamam, 6 Umulolo, 7 Okwu, 8 Okweokwu, 9 Ohewe, 10 Umunleweocha, 11 Umuduruobiaku, and 12 Umuohaego.

Ugbele-akah was divided into two sections namely:  Ugbeleasham and Ugbeleokwu. Ugbeleasham villages are: 1 Umuezeala, 2 Umuojukwu, 3 Umuiheamam, 4 Umulolo, 5 Ohewe, 6 Umunlewuocha, and 7 Umuduruobiaku. While Ugbeleokwu comprises the following villages; 1 Umudinji, 2 Umudionyeka, 3 Okwu, 4 Umuokweokwu, and 5 Umuohaego.

Marriages: In Ugbeleasham, Umuojukwu, Umuiheamam and Umulolo can not intermarry because they are of the same great grand father. They are the sons and daughters of Umudiudara. In Ugbeleokwu, Umudinji, Umudionyeka, and Umuokweokwu can not intermarry because they are of the same great grand father. The name of their great grand father is not yet known. Any of them can marry from Okwu or Umuohaego and vice versa, as well from any of the villages in Ugbeleasham. In Ugbeleasham, An Umudiudara man can marry from Umuezeala, Umuduruobiaku, Umunleweocha or Ohewe and vice versa.

In the olden days, Ugbele-akah people were popularly known for their bravely in warfare and also for the production and consumption of special kind of Beans (Akidi) which is rich in protein and also gives a lot of energy. Because of this, the Ugbele-akah people were nicknamed Ugbele-ota-akidi (Special beans eaters). Ugbele-akah is also widely known as Ugbele-akpaka due to their bravery and fortitude in the ancient time. In Igboland, Akpaka is a symbol of strength, toughness, and bravery.
