Uba village is one of the ten village that make up the old Umuaka town. It is traditionally the first village in terms of seniority, being the first son of Aka, the Progenitor of the Akah community. It is because of this position that the paramount rulers of Umuaka has been from Uba. The reigning paramount ruler of reconfigured Umuaka autonomous community, Eze Aloysius Chukwuemeka Amadioha Ojinnaka is from Uba.
There are four recognised hamlets in Uba. They are Umuezeala, Umuezikeukwu, Ndiuhu and Umuezikeoha. These hamlets inter-marry except the fact that there is no inter-marital relationship between Umuezikeukwu and Umuezikeoha for some customary reasons.
Uba village is one of the large villages in Umuaka in terms of land mass and has geographical boundaries with Isiozi, Amurie autonomous community, Obinwanne, Achara and Ugbele.
Uba people travel far and wide. They are highly enterprising, peace loving and traditional. There is healthy rivalry among the youths of Uba. Like in other parts of Umuaka, the predominant occupation of the people is peasant farming and petty trading. Some Uba indigenes have made it successfully in academics, business, politics and other professions.
Uba people generally play leading roles in the development of Umuaka community and are ready to defend the integrity and sanctity of the Umuaka community whenever the need arises. In conjunction
with their brothers and sisters from other parts of Umuaka has initiated and executed some developmental projects for the benefit of all in Umuaka.
The Ogho festivities are strictly observed in Uba, as in other parts of Umuaka. The people are predominantly Christians with pockets of Traditionalists and Animists.
