The Timber Shade is one of the popular timber factory in Orlu zone. It's activities range from logging to the processing of timber. The factory is located along Orlu Owerri road, approximately 1.5km from Njaba River. It was established by Akah people in 1979.

Timber business has been very lucrative in Akahland as there are numerous giant trees like, Iroko, Mahogany, Obeche, and etc, in Akahland and the neighbouring communities.

However, the factory was originally located at Achara, but as her activities increased as a result of increased demand for timber product, she out grew the available space at that location. And also couple with the increase in noise emanating from the heavy machineries of the factory, then the people of Akah decided to move the factory to a location that is spacious for future expansion and less susceptible to the noise generated by the machineries.

Besides, the increased demand of timber product in Akahland came as a result of the construction of modern houses in Akahland and other neighbouring town. People who were living in houses with thatch roofs in the late 70's converted it to corrugated roof with the help of the timber products. Moreover, the periodic visit of Sanitary Inspectors who adv iced members of the community to log-off big trees that were very close to residential house aided the increase of the activities of the Timber factory.

The factory has been of great economic important to the people of Akah, as many employment opportunities were made possible by the factory. A large number of truck drivers get their income from the factory. Carpenters and other wood workers rely on the factory for their supplies. Her favourable location along the highway attracts big companies from Orlu and Owerri who do patronize them regularly.
