Ibele is one of the ten villages that make up Umuaka Community. It is bounded in the North by Umuele village, in the South and East by Ugbele and Amiyi villages; and in the West by Afara in Ikeduru/Mbaitoli Local Government Authority. Ibele has a population of more than 5,000 people.

Christianity is the major religion in the village. The Church/School institutions here include: St. Andrew's Catholic church and St. Peter's Anglican Church. Ibele is made up of four kindreds. These include Ndiokwur, Ndiughu, Okwudor and Oru. The traditional ruler, Eze Rufus Anyanwu hails from Ndiokwur kindred, which is the eldest of the four kindreds.

Ibele people are predominantly farmers. Crops like yam, cassava, cocoyam, plantain, banana, vegetables and palm produce are frequently cultivated. But it is in the production of palm produce (oil and its adjuncts) that the village excel all others. The expression “Ibele ora oga”, Ibele the oil eater, is easily used whenever the Ibele person is introduced. It is no surprise too, that one of her illustrious sons built a palm kernel production industry in the village. With changes in the society/community, other professions and trades are now equally visible in the village. These include teaching, metal/wood working, basket making, Health Care Delivery Services and general merchandising.
